Does the SIA event planner policy cover sub-contractors?

Does the SIA event planner policy cover sub-contractors?

You've purchased SIA's event planner policy through the Music, Photos, and Event Planners (MPEP) program, but what's included with your coverage? Can sub-contractors you're hiring fall under your event planner policy? Let's talk about it!

The event planner policy provides protection against third-party bodily injury and medical claims, property damage to a venue or other third party, business legal defense fees, advertising liability, and any slander or libel claim. Your coverage is limited to the operations listed on your policy, so in this case, event planning. This means the sub-contractors you're booking for events are not covered by your event planner policy. If your sub-contractors need their own policies, depending on their operations, they can check out our: Performer Policy, Vendor Policy, or MPEP Policy

For example, let's say you're a booking manager with a booth at a trade show and you decide to bring the talent you book with you. Because your event planner policy only covers you for event planning, any sub-contractors in your booth would need their own policies.

Reminder that SIA's event planner policy isn't for someone putting on an event, but rather someone who is booking talent/groups/individuals for events. Event producers run events. Event planners and booking managers hire for events. SIA can insure event planners/booking managers, but not event producers.
